Chino 13 Mission

This is a photo of the team going to serve at Chino Christ Church in Chino, Japan this summer from San Fernando Valley Holiness Church and South Bay Japanese Christian Fellowship.  We go there to present a "day camp" program for children Pre-K to 5th Grade called English Experience Camp; conduct conversational English workshops; and to fellowship with, worship with, and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ.  We will be in Chino from July 25th to August 5th, staying at the Chino Christ Church as the guests of Pastor Hirotaka Kawano, his wife Chihoyo, and their daughter Chi-chan.  Kawano-sensei first invited us to come in 2007 to help "introduce" the church to the community and to invite people to come to the church, meet their church family, and to be introduced to Jesus Christ.  It was felt that a program for children learning English from Americans would be a great way to draw people to the church.  The 3-day program had about 25 children the first year and has grown steadily each year to about 60 children in 2012.  The enrollment has been limited by the space available at the church, with many people signed up on a waiting list in recent years.  With a little more than a month to go before we depart for Japan, we are finalizing our plans for the lessons and activities we will be presenting.  God has been faithful in selecting a team with a wide variety of skills, talents, and abilities to present the gospel in heart-felt and creative ways.  We appreciate your prayers as we complete our plans and prepare our hearts for serving our loving God and the people of Japan.
